Change in circumstances universal credit

You can't have more than two advances being repaid at the same time. If you already have a new claim advance and a budgeting advance, they will not allow a change of circumstances advance. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1

Sorry if not right place to post. My husband has been furloughed since March and I'm in receipt of of ESA contribution based support group due to disability and up until 6/3/2020 we payed for pretty much most of his sons needs but his ex claimed all benefits and that was fine with us as long as son was OK. But since 06/03/2020 his son has come to live with us permanently, he also suffers from ADHD which his mum receives pip for. Our problem is she is uncooperative in transferring any benefits to my husband and won't stop them either. She is also refusing to give his son any of his personal belongings from his old bedroom. Because of his mums partner my husbands son was so terrified of him he was actually thinking if taking his own life but this had no impact on his mother's decision and our main concern was to get him out of the house ASAP but now our own universal credit claim is been given an amount of £0 and we can't qualify for a bigger rental property either as tequnically on record it's only my son that lives with us. We are struggling somewhat at the moment but we will continue as its best for my husband son in the longterm, but what can we do to get her to relinquish his sons child benefit, child tax credits and Pip payments when she won't tell us any information regarding them either, she also receives school lunch vouchers of £20 a week too but she hasn't had him since schools in Scotland closed0

Can you post this on a new thread. Posting a completely unrelated query in an existing thread is very confusing because the two questions getting mixed up.Leeannl2003 said:Sorry if not right place to post. An update to everyone. I just received a change in circumstances advance. Called UC, spoke for 5 mins and they sent the advance 5 mins later. I received £113.0

Thanks for coming back to tell us the outcome. Although surely that's not going to help your current situation with your rent being so high.

I saw in this link a discretionary advance is available in the case of change in circumstances. I also read that UC can deduct £122 per month and they currently deduct £86 per month. So I should have £36*12 available as a discretionary advance if approved
