The phone app currently being trialled on the Isle of Wight only works on Android 8 and higher also iOS 11 and higher.
How will they reach the required 60% take up unless they enable it for older smartphones ?

Doesn't really matter. Unless they have changed what they said they would do it will not work anyway.

Only way they can do it is gps tracking and server side computation, which is not what was said.

Though probably what it will be.

May as well still use it though. Here am I in my house doing crap all. Enjoy the data!

Is this a big problem? An iPhone would need to be about five years old to be running less than iOs 11. The pictures not so clear with Android as you could have a budget phone that was three years old still on Android 7. But my gut feeling is this is a small number compared to the number that won't install it for other reasons (don't know how to download apps, refuse to download etc)
