Right, so how do you know all the chefs havent been furloughed? And if they are on zero hour contracts, if they havent been furloughed they will have been laid off so you are at the advantage here?

I have done for 2 days solid and they are being really ambiguous in their answers. Driving me nuts to be fair.

Answers to what? If you are at home on 80% and the place is shut why does it even matter? Either all your other colleagues are on the same 80% or they have been laid off.

the football club might have realised that in the entertainment/hospitality sector their business is not going back to how it was in the beginning of March for a very long time. They might have realised they’re not going to have crowds in their stadium & they’re not going to need to cook for as many people as before until who knows when. The furlough scheme currently runs until July, it was a job retention scheme, they might think they’re unable to retain the jobs of some of these staff on zero hour contracts until everything is back to the old normal. They might not want the liability of holiday pay accruing for so long. They might just not be able to afford it.

Hmm. As before then, there may only be half the jobs to go back to. It is a job retention scheme and the football club are clearly acting to the letter.
