What is the best Rewards Current Account that I can shift my direct debits to?

I have a cash reward account from Danske and I'm a cockney living in London. If you phone them up, if you can get through that is, then you need to make an appointment for them to phone you back so that they can go through the application with you. As long as they can confirm your identity electronically (ie via the CRAs), then you will not need to arrange a trip to Belfast to provide identification evidence to support your application.

They no longer allow mainland UK residents to open an account over the phone (or even in branch).Willing2Learn said:I have a cash reward account from Danske and I'm a cockney living in London. That is what they told me too. I had to ring a second time before I spoke to an advisor who checked the finer details and then made an appointment to phone me the next working day.Ed-1 said:

You're omitting to say that was 2+ years ago. The residency requirement is reported last year.Willing2Learn said:

That is a shame...I guess that time flies when you are earning £60/annum...my bad...

I'm not saying it's for sure... but in the application process it asks you to confirm you live in NI. If you put 'no' it stops your progress and asks you to ring. Now I'm not sure what happens next but I assume it's a 'sorry but...' and as others reported, they were politely refused.Willing2Learn said:That is a shame...I guess that time flies when you are earning £60/annum...my bad...

To apply for this account:
- If you’re a new Danske Bank customer, you must be living in Northern Ireland
- If you’re already a Danske Bank customer, you must be living in the UK
- You must be at least 18 years old
It has always said the above pre-conditions. It said the same when I made my application. The first time I rang, the advisor flatly rejected that I would be able to open the account. When I rang the second time, I asked if I could open one of their eSaver accounts so that I would be an existing customer as locality is not in the terms for the eSaver account. I suggested that I would be able to open a cash reward account a month later. The advisor went off to check with their manager and then came back offering me a telephone appointment.
For anyone who wants to persevere with applying for this account, then that would be a good workaround. Just open up an eSaver account first so that you qualify. Simples.

Have a look at the calculator on Santander 123 lite. I get anywhere from £4-£7 cashback on my DDs for a £1 fee.0

I don't know exactly when you applied but it hasn't always said it.Willing2Learn said:To apply for this account:

Previously, it has said it in relation to applying via the website.

Now it says it in relation to any application channel. It also says it on the eSaver and any other product.
It didn't used to.
