Furlough approaching the end?

I am 6 1/2 weeks into furlough. With 5 1/2 weeks pay I believe to come. If we are unable to return to work what would likely happen? Drop to 60% ongoing as suggested? Seems companies are getting away with it. My company has a lot of cash but is only paying the 80% so it is costing them £0. Surely if we drop to 60% they should top up to 80%? Worrying what will happen at the end of the 12 weeks

Hopefully it will end in its current form, given the number of threads that have popped up on here moaning that it is unfair they have been asked back into work.

It’s not sustainable in its current form and I hope it ends sooner rather than later.

Yes. Some people have started threads on here recently saying how unfair it is they have been asked back into work and others havent. Ergo: they want to stay at home watching Netflix and getting 80% rather than going back into work and getting 100% and getting the economy going.

80% was far too generous. If everyone was put on Universal credit, everyone would be desperate to go back in. So the sooner the scheme ends in its current form the better, imo. I suspect after June it would only be certain industies, and/or a reduction in the percentage.

Also bear in mind at some point, someone has to pay for all of this. That someone will be the taxpayer.

I doubt it. I am in sales and nothing is happening at all and we work in a overcrowded office. More than happy to return I'm more worried about money so happy to go in. I suspect it may be working from home

At the end of the 12 weeks I think they will have to keep it going but as you suggest at 60%

Unless anyone on here is the Prime Minister or the Chancellor of the Exchequer, I doubt anyone can answer your question.
