Can the police come becuase of this?

Options
I have some toxic people in my network, circle.
Some of them said I'm doing fraud, misrepresentation with my business and maybe hoodwinking clients. (None of this is true)
They also do not believe the degree I've studied.
Can the police be called out and investigate this? As far as I'm concerned, the police have better things to do and they will only come out if there is danger.

Anyone can call the police to report anything and depending on what it is and how seriously the police take it they may well want to investigate but if what you are saying you have nothing to be worried about.

It is more likely that they will tell the complainant to contact local authority or trading standards again depending on the issue.

Impossible to say from what you've told us. If somebody reports fraud then yes the police may investigate it if it sounds serious enough. Not really a blue light matter though, it would be likely to move very slowly.

How the police investigate fraud doesn't have much to do with Consumer Rights though.

As above it depends. If it’s just a case that you are selling bits and bobs or offering classes on craft work claiming to have a degree in interior design, or whatever, I’m sure the police would politely laugh and refer complainant to trading standards instead.

If however it could potentially be a law breaking situation , pretending to be a registered child psychiatrist, or licensed nurse offering therapy or procedures then they might just have a word. Although even then there would be professional bodies that would be a more appropriate place to report to.

If your claims, licensing, professional liability insurance and paper work are all 100% in place then I can’t see what the worry is. Obviously if you have misrepresented something or perhaps claimed a slightly more enhanced background than you should then you would need to sort it out quickly. Degrees are easily checked as are business registrations etc.

Maybe have a cull of the toxic people in your network, circle.
Or cut down on what personal information you are allowing them access to - either verbally or online.

    Thank you all.
They have no proof, it is just an accusation, just speculation. I do not know how police treat 'speculation, accusations' or the trading standards.

I'm sure the police have more important things to concern themselves with than investigating speculative accusations without any basis or proof.

    Thinking about your specific question:
if you are sure you're doing nothing wrong, let them report away.

As for your degree, does it matter if toxic acquaintances believe what subject(s) you studied or what level you were awarded or don't believe you?
