Is oil flushing over maintenance when replacing engine oil?

Do I have to do oil flushing when I change engine oil? I think it's over-maintenance. What do you think?

I would only do it if there were signs it was needed such as very neglected oil changes otherwise its pointless.

No, it's very much back in favour.

Partly due to over-long service intervals to make showroom buyers feel happy, but mostly due to large margins on upselling bottles of snake oil.

Rebuilt the engine then using flushing oil briefly or running in oil otherwise lots and lots of regular
    oil changes.

A lot of variable long life service schedules such as VAG sometimes run cars up to two years before they say they need a service.  Would you be happy with two year service intervals?
Americans literally !!!!!! themselves if they can't get an oil service every 6 months.

Look at the 2yr/18k and 2yr/20k columns... Then look at the Transits... There are 2yr/36k intervals in there... Yes, some have an "interval service" (1yr/10k) or an "annual inspection". But not all.

FAQs - "interval service" includes a "minor oil change" (excluding filter). "Annual inspection" only includes an oil change if the oil monitor says it needs it.

That would be a red flag for a reason NOT to do it. Do it in an engine like that and there's the possibility of loosening up debris and sludge that'll block some of the smaller oil galleries.
    It's snake oil.
As for the 2 year oil change intervals with modern fully synthetic oils plus improvements in manufacturing tolerance there's no issue any more. You no longer have engines manufactured with half an inch of slop in the parts mashing lumps of metal off each other depositing tons of filings or carburettors pouring loads of fuel into low quality dead dinosaur oil sat in the sump. If you think about it even well maintained engines from the early 80s and before would be long dead by 80-100,000 miles whereas now 100,000 miles isn't even remotely an issue and plenty are reaching 200,000.

Because in the main a lot of their vehicles, especially their trucks such as the Ford F series, are still using engines designed in the 1960s. Plus there's the mindset they have over there too. They're a very gullible people.

    Consider this.
by the time you own the car, sell the car and everything inbetween the end who is going to notice what positive effect the flush has done?
use quality oil and service regular.
