Good news on the car.
I'm sure the PCP payments will soon start to replenish those pots.If it's not adding up, compound it!1 -
That's great news and a financial weight off your shoulders. The savings will go up again over time.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1

Yes I’m looking forward to reworking the budgets now, I just need to wait until OH gets paid again so we can see what a proper month looks like as his December pay had some overtime and he was also on emergency tax which we are hoping will be sorted in time for next pay day.Went for a lovely hike along a new trail area near to us yesterday, it’s the 1st time in ages we have had a proper day together and it felt so nice to be out in the fresh air, we both came home invigorated and we have said we want to do this weekly again. In other news I have an interview next week. It’s in a completely different field to my previous role but I am quite hopeful. I’m going to spend this weekend getting myself prepped and prepared. It’s been so long since I’ve interviewed for a role so I need to put some proper preparation together.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Great news on OH's job. And your hike together sounds lovely. We have some hiking trails carved out for us close by surrounded by an industrial area. You would never think to walk there. But it's there and you've reminded me that we can go on those and have a nice time for free. Hope your interview goes well.Mortgage start date Dec 2015 - $64,655.00

Your walk sounds great. It's always nice to find new things to explore.
Good luck with the interview 😃Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -

Just popping in with a quick update... so I didn’t get the job I interviewed for but they did offer me an alternative role which I happily accepted. It’s in a completely different field to anything I have ever done and is a 12 month temp contract to cover maternity but I am pretty confident that there will be something at the end of it, if not I will of picked up a lot of new skills that I can apply elsewhere, anyway I am learning loads and really enjoying so far. I’m 3 weeks in, the Salary is less that half what I was earning in my previous role but i am 100% happier and there are a lot of perks and benefits which I didn’t get in my old role, better hours/holidays ect plus I don’t have any management responsibilities.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Sounds like a good move and a good company.
Can't over estimate the value of being happy at work and how that spills over into your personal life.
Hopefully it will turn into something permanent next year, if not, as you say you've picked up valuable new skills and experience!

Congratulations! You can't put a price on being happy at work, we spend so much time there, and your perks sound like they more than make up for the lower income.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3

Time to resuscitate this diary and get into the routine of posting frequently to keep the money saving mindset, our income has reduced significantly compared to this time last year but we are managing, we have had to give up some luxuries like a 2nd car ect however we are both 100% happier and are very fortunate that we have a decent pot of savings and we are both on the same page when it comes to our finances. We have finally paid off our last remaining credit card so apart from our mortgage which now stands at £53,300 we have no other debts. Didn’t think we would ever get to this position and I thank my lucky stars every day that we are finally here. I will keep the credit card to put any big purchases on for the protection that it gives but will never use credit Willy nilly again, can’t believe how reckless I used to be with cash/credit now!
plans for today...
food shopping with a list
bit of cleaning
Film night tonight
happy Saturday!!Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.
