Have you been on spareroom.com? We advertised a room on there some years back and always were inundated with people looking for rooms. Normally most of these adverts are direct through a Landlord wether they live in or out the property. Rarely do estate agents use this site so you wont have such issues with requiring a guarantor. Some adverts don't always allow those on benefits though but it's worth a look anyway otherwise gumtree is another possible avenue to try.

Yes spare room is good it has quite a few roo.s that accept HB. The only problem is HB only covers 78 pound a week in my area even though I'm on esa and pip...

Is that the 1 bedroom rate of LHA? you would be entitled to this, even though you'll be sharing.

Personally I wouldn't give up a secure social housing tenancy to move into a house share with complete strangers.
Even more so when you are a disabled person.
Have you requested a transfer from your local council or looked into getting a home exchange ?

Yes I've requested a transfer but they said I'm adequately housed even though my mental health was made worse by staying here... I've also been on homeswapper but no luck in 4 years...

As already advised in my first reply, because of your PIP, the maximum help you would be entitled too would be the one bedroom LHA rate rather than the shared room rate.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    Ok thanks alot
  • I would echo others' warnings about houseshares, Ryzen26.  If you have MH issues, how do feel about having to share kitchen facilities with others?  Personally I hated it as some people would spend all night in there and you couldn't get to use the cooker or the sink without them in your way.  It can be good if you get considerate like-minded housemates but that is unusual IME.  If you do want to try that route, I'd suggest getting a contract where you can get out after no more than three months if it proves to be a bad move.

My way of thinking is the grass is greener but you may be right. Thanks for your advice :)
