    other question

Started work 2/3-23/3, was on lockdown at home since 24/3, was not paid last week of March 20 & whole of  April 2020
Have you spoken to your employer about  this?
What have they said to you?

Have they told you that they are furloughing you?

If you do not give us more information we cannot help you understand what  is happening.

Who told you to not go to work?
Did employer tell you to stay at home and they would pay you?

Or did you just decide to stay home yourself?

Doesn't look like you are furloughed.

Did your boss send you anything stating that you are furloughed? It's the employer's choice whether to furlough staff of not - it's not your decision.
  • I doesn't sound as if you have been furloughed.  It sounds like you are just not getting paid.  What did your employer actually say to you when you were told to stay home?  And have you been given anything that said that you were being furloughed.

You are not automatically put on furlough just because the place of work has closed.

If you started a new job on the second of March and still haven’t got paid anything it’s highly unlikely you’d be eligible to furlough, to be eligible the company would have needed to submit your RTI information to HMRC by the 19th of March.

who told you to send this email to your employer with that wording?

If needed look at eligibility for Universal Credit https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/

There are online calculators to help you assess entitlement  https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

Be aware that claiming UC will end any Tax Credits, Housing Benefit or other means tested benefits you currently get.

You will be excluded from UC if you have savings over £16,000.

You may also be able to claim Council Tax Reduction from your local council.

If you are part of a couple you both have to claim and assessed on your joint circumstances.

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
