should we cancel holiday

We have paid a deposit for a holiday to Disney world on June 22nd of £250 but due to the virus, we have had no income at all so we could not pay the balance which was due a month ago so we cannot now go even if allowed at that time?
We have not cancelled the holiday as we were told not to and then if virgin holidays cancel it we would get our deposit back?
Should we cancel it or wait?
Kind Regards

Have you come to an arrangement with the holiday company (Virgin?) about not paying the balance? You might find that by not paying your balance that they have cancelled your booking and the deposit is lost.1

you should take a look at the T&Cs on your booking as £250 sounds quite low for a Disney package. It might be that you were on a low starter deposit and that there is more to pay even if you 'choose to cancel' by not paying the balance.
Generally you only get the money back if you have kept up with the payments and then the provider cancels. Saying that, Virgin is doing very badly at honouring refunds at the moment so it will probably take them some time to catch up to your dates.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans
