Could anyone recommend an insurer to provide long term cover for an unoccupied property? Thanks.

It’s difficult and will often mean reduced cover, possibly no contents for instance. It may also need checking regularly, such as once a week.
A relative got cover from the NFU, but she was already with them.1 -
That's the problem. It was being checked once a week but since the lockdown I've not been able to get someone to go and check on it.0

Insurers have been relaxing such conditions on existing policies at least, I expect they may be doing so on new cover too (given that people don't necessarily have much choice about insuring properties which they're not allowed to visit).2

That's good to know. Luckily I'm on good terms with my neighbours although sadly I'm missing out on all the baking.davidmcn said:Insurers have been relaxing such conditions on existing policies at least, I expect they may be doing so on new cover too (given that people don't necessarily have much choice about insuring properties which they're not allowed to visit).0 -
I wearily answer the same question over and over again
Specialist holiday homes insurance broker, they do such things as house in probate and hence unoccupied as well as holiday/second homes
Try the broker Aplan - that's who my second home is with
The mainstream home insurance companies will not be interested.

Any insurance broker will have access to insurers who cover unoccupied properties. A-plan is one such broker.

I've never used an insurance broker in my life. Maybe I've always been a rather vanilla insuree so I've been able to source it easily myself. Anyway, I contacted A-plan, spoke to a nice chap yesterday and he's going to phone me back tomorrow.0

I wouldn’t trust these insurance companies during this crisis
there is a rise in squatters and the authorities can’t cope with the numbers
why not try to get a property caretaker to live there for free, it won’t cost you anything0 -
Sqatting in residential properties is illegal (rather than unlawful)hansolo2000 said:I wouldn’t trust these insurance companies during this crisis

Squatters know that. They know that if they squat in a residential property, they are committing a criminal offence, and police have the powers, and will use them, to evict them.
Which authority can';t cope with dealing with crime, whem crime numbers indicate crime is currently down 28% due to the current lockdown?
