LLOYDS CLUB GOURMET SOCIETY CARD

You do get a physical card. Or did a few months ago when I got mine.EarthBoy said:
You don't get a physical card; it's a digital membership according to the Lloyds website. The Gourmet Society website says it works via a mobile phone app. Presumably Lloyds should send you something to register via the app without charge, or some similar procedure.xlnc99 said:Has anyone got one of these?
I applied along time ago for this and my card has yet to arrive, even though i am now a member0 -
I didn't select the Gourmet Society as my benefit, so I can't say from personal experience what you will receive, but all the evidence suggests that you won't get a physical membership card.xlnc99 said:
Got the membership number from club lloyds via email so i am registered. That came around 4 weeks after i signed up! I still believe you need the card to access the discounts if you are at a restaurant.DCFC79 said:
Maybe a code to enter via the app.EarthBoy said:

OP check your emails for something from Lloyds, maybe look for club Lloyds.
1) Lloyds website says that the benefit is a "digital plus membership":
https://www.clublloyds.com/
2) The terms and conditions repeatedly refer to it as a "digital membership":
https://www.lloydsbank.com/assets/media/pdfs/current-accounts/clublloyds_lifestylebenefits_termsandconditions.pdf
3) The Gourmet Society website, under "how Gourmet Society works" states:
Download -Access your digital card via the free gourmet society app
Search -Find one of our 6,000 restaurants near you.
Show -Present your gourmet society card to receive your discount.
https://www.gourmetsociety.co.uk/purchase.php
Under the FAQs, it sayshttps://www.gourmetsociety.co.uk/faq.php1. Choose the restaurant you wish to dine at by looking through our directory, website or smartphone app.
2. Book a table in advance, mentioning your Gourmet Society card.
3. Enjoy your meal, present the card or digital dining card on the app when you come to pay and get the discount!
So, if you've got your membership number, you should be able to log into the app with that, and you use your digital membership card on the app instead of a physical one.
To change the subject, slightly, I thought that all you got with Gourmet Society membership was discounts off meals; I didn't realise until just now that "All gourmet society memberships include gourmet society plus, which entitles you to cinema, theatre and attraction discounts."
With these other discounts, I will have to consider Gourmet Society membership when the time comes to choose my lifestyle benefits again.

I'm not going to argue further beyond this but I will just say...EarthBoy said:

I, and at least one other on this thread, have reported that you DO get a physical card - so you can't say that 'all the evidence suggest that you won't'. That may be what the website says but it's not what the real-life evidence - from people who have actually done this - suggests.
The system may have changed in the last few months of course.0 -
I don't deny that you did receive a card, but the OP didn't. As every mention of it on Lloyds' website refers to a "digital" membership, that strongly suggests the arrangements have changed, as you say.Zanderman said:

FYI - the gourmet society helpdesk got back to me today via email. They said i will not be getting a card and its done through the digital membership via the app. I prefer the card as you can just show the card at the restaurants i believe. With the APP it looks like you have to pre book it, then select card then go to a restaurant and they will scan your app or something.
That is all well and good if you are planning ahead but if you are spontaneous and out and about and do a walk in then they will not accept your digital membership as its not been booked on the app via the card link. Bit of a hassle this, LLyods told me i would be getting a card. I want a card!

Just looks like same places as meerkat meals0

As for the society plus - their benefits at the moment are lame. No deals for cinema or attractions. A few discounts to some online stores i have never heard off.1

It's always been the case that you have to book in advance and mention the card at some restaurants but not others. The Gourmet Society website will show the requirements for individual restaurants. I've always been issued with a card but maybe this will change next time. Perhaps people were lending their cards to others and the App is to stop this.2

I chose the gourmet society option with Lloyds and both myself and my wife got cards in 2018 and again in 2019 when the old ones expired.I have only used the card a handful of times as there is not much choice in our area and most of what there is are chain restaurants whereas we tend to use independent restaurants. Never booked in advance but have shown the card before ordering.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
