Having taken this up with my local MSP he is 'fairly confident' that it is a last resort...
While I acknowledge the 'intention', there is nothing in the proposal that actually limits the proposed new legal powers.. And
The justification for potentially switching off 'small produces' is perhaps based on the 'clout' hat the big produces have. ie it makes it more difficult to shut down larger suppliers as the probability of legal action is greater, especially where commercial losses could be large..

The practicality of enforced shutting down of solar generation can be done by an enforcement notice. OR there is the capacity to shut off via the SMETS meters! I cannot see how 'one day only' notices can be issued and actioned.. and what if you do not comply? Are there any penalties?

It is also unclear if you are instructed to shut down your production or battery to grid if you will be allowed to charge your own storage battery, power your home or business or charge your EV. If you are in this position you are at the mercy of the marketplace (if you are on the likes of Octopus Agile) or you are being forced to use imported power at your standard tariff rate..

The grid does need to be managed, However potentially turning off green energy production and Stored energy is simply wrong! It flies in the face of carbon reduction targets and the clean air acts.. Reduced production will also lead to increased prices, so even if you do not produce or store solar power this could have an impact on you?
In the future what will happen when you plan to install solar PV? Your DNO has the right to refuse or restrict this... will these powers be a reason to reduce or refuse future installations?

I have no idea what the real impact will be! However I feel it is right to be concerned and to flag it up so it does not come as a surprise to anyone.

    Stay safe all..
