My MIL likes DORO's for similar reasons to those you give and she has recently purchased her third in about 10 or 12 years after recently trying a cheaper version from Amazon.
In her experience the quality of DORO's is not good (yet still better than cheapie Amazon equivalents), hence the number purchased; for her they last a few years and then something always "gives" although she does rely on that as her only phone so maybe it gets used more than yours.
Hinges fail; charging jacks give up; batteries (yes I have replaced these before now) and even keys on the keypad fail and we find when this happen it's easier & cheaper overall to buy a new phone. As we found out when replacing a battery only to find another fault develop within a few months.
But when you're faced with very little choice especially if you need 3G-capable then - as you are finding out - even swapping info. from one DORO to another isn't easy.
This time it was a case of manually copying numbers over although thankfully what photos she had were saved to the extra SD card, but copying is a PITA.

You might be lucky & have a tech specialist nearby that could check & repair the charge port easily but in my experience it's honestly not worth it.
Oh and we've never found cradle-charge models to be any more or less reliable than standard plug-in versions either.

I learned from "research" that a power bank is not going to solve my problem since the supply charge would still be routed through my suspect charging port. Hopes now rest on my mobile repair shop who is trying to source the elusive charging cradle for my Doro 409/410. There are others on the market but vendors could not confirm if a cradle for another Dodo model might also fit mine, I suspect not.
