How long for recorded post?

Was just wondering if anybody knows how long it takes for something to be received if the sender was sending out an item recorded post.
I bought an item and paid for it within a few mins by paypal last Friday, usually when I pay for something immediately the seller leaves feedback straight away to say prompt payer etc then posts out the goods.(This seller hasnt said anything)
I heard nothing, so mailed the person on Wednesday, they replied to me within 5 mins to say the goods have been dispatched but the mail is slow at the moment
I sent another mail this morning asking for a ref number and havent heard anything back.
On Monday this is up to the 10 day limit for a dispute.
This seller has a rating of over 6000 (with about 18 old postal disputes going back a yr ago) and by the looks of it tends to leave feedback only AFTER the buyer has left theirs. I obviously will not leave good feedback, so I am thinking this seller may give me a negative if I do on him
Wondering what you guys think?

Recorded deleivery is the same as normal post service,
average
1st class allow 1 to 2 working days
2nd class 2 to 3 days
Thou to be honest I have found the post to be slower in our area over the last week, whether its the xmas post.
if your not sure you could always get around it by asking the seller for the delievery number then you can track the package on Royal Mail. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Obviously you have not posted on this board before. No buyer gets a positive feedback just for paying!! Any buyer who does is mug.
On saying that yes I would be a little annoyed it hadn't arrived by now but what service was offered 1st or 2nd class recorded? Anyway I would probably let it run until Tuesday and if you haven't got it by then you can start kicking up a fuss.
Have you asked at your sorting office?0 -

Nope havent posted on this ebay forum before, but I figured this was the right place to ask advice from
I ordered 2 items a few weeks ago from seperate sellers, and both left me feedback as soon as they received the payment and before the item was received by me, but these were not what I would call private sellers as they had a shop (I dont know if that makes a difference).
This person just states on his ebay page that because he has been blamed in the past for items not being received or lost in the post he now sends all items out recorded delivery, and he is not to blame if they do not arrive next working day.
I have asked for a postal reference, but I have a funny feeling about this
I will wait until Tuesday & see if anything happens.
Thank you for taking the time to reply
Sorry if I have offended anyone for posting hereBest wins

Youve not offended me, without being nosey did you pay by paypal, if you did start a claim with them, if you paid by cheque or postal order, go through item not recieved.
Me personally i wont leave feedback to that person has, that way I know theyve got there item.
Ifs its been nearly 2 weeks start a claim with ebay or paypalxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

10 days is not a 'limit', 10 days is when you can open an item not received dispute.
As others have said if it was first class you should have received it, if second class maybe not. If you paid on Friday it may be that the seller can only post on the next working day which would be Monday. Recorded delivery does not speed up the postal service (at my home address it actually slows it down, but that's another story!!).
As for feedback, I'd say the majority of sellers now leave after it has been left for them.
If you really want the item, do your best to get in touch with the seller before opening an item not received dispute. Give them a ring, go through advanced search (top of all ebay boxes) to get their contact information..0 -
As a seller and buyer I would never leave feedback as a seller until the buyer has the item and is happy. As a buyer as soon as I get the item I leave the feedback. I have just bought an item on ebay from the UK and it is near on 3 weeks and I am still waiting on the item. It is only worth £2.99 but now I am really peed off. The seller is sending me emails to comminicate with me. What has really !!!!e* me off is he has sent me an eamil tonight asking why I haven't left feedback yet??????? My chance to tell him yet again why I am upset. My point is really that give the seller time to sort it out but as a seller I would send my item quick and if for any reason I coudln't I would email the buyer. If you as a seller decided to become a power seller then at least make sure you can cope with it all. So I have left it 3 weeks to get mad over item but I think I have been generous. Contact buyer tell them what you expect to be done and hope for the best. But I think it is up to the buyer to leave feedback first but every ebayer is different.0

why would you leave a neg on feedback?
if the seller posted the item in good time then its out of their control
ebay guidelines are 7 days to post0 -
Recorded delivery first class rarely gets there the next day. I always send items second class recorded, they usually take 2 days but can really take anything from 2 days to ?? days. Longest recorded delivery parcel I have had to wait for was 4 weeks.
When I fail to get an item after 2 weeks and the seller fails to reply to my emails I open a paypal dispute.0 -
I have a similar situation except I am the seller. I sent an item out 2 weeks ago today Recorded Delivery and it hasn't arrived. The buyer keeps sending very short sharp messages, which I don't appreciate anyway as I think it's really quite rude!
It's the only item I sent recorded and I can't understand why it has disappeared as everything else I sent standard has been delivered successfully.
I've emailed the chap to ask him to chekc the local sorting office first, before I give a refund, just in case it's there and they haven't left a card but he's just replied that "yes, I'll have a refund", which again I think is a tad rude!
I'm struggling to get info out of him though as I asked him to confirm the address as his name that I sent the item to is different to that in the email. I want to make sure we're barking up the right tree... if I've sent it to another address, then I'd appreciate if he confirmed that this is the address he's waiting for the package at....? It could be very simple but he's making it ever so difficult.0 -

You don't mention if you've checked the tracking with Royal Mail, if it has gone to the wrong address but has been delivered that would show up, afaIk it would also show up on the tracking details if it is at a sorting office waiting for collection..0
