Furlough pay delay

Hi, I was furloughed in March and only received my pay on 1 May and I’m being told by payroll that I won’t get April’s until they have notification that they can apply.  Is it true that salaries are delayed as my partners salary cane through fine with his company.  Thanks

My husband's company had their first amount through within a week after application. They are paying the 20% difference so no one loses any pay.

My son in law is being furloughed and his employer is also paying the extra 20% on top. He's received his pay without any problems. You need to speak to your employer.

This was their email to me on the 21/4 when I asked about my payments :
The first day to get Furlough claims in was yesterday, and we put them in. This was for March. The Government are still unclear on how long these will take. I hope to have news in the next few days. We can’t submit claims for April yet, again I hope to have a date for that too.

This does sound right. Employers could apply from 20th April and claims can be backdated to 1st March.

This doesn't sound right. Employers could apply from 20th April and claims can be backdated to 1st March.
It does sound strange - companies have been notified that they can apply.
I don't know what the situation is if they tell people they are furloughed and then don't bother applying or find they're ineligible.
But they should already know that, because the rules and eligibility were laid out from the start.

Sorry, i meant to have said it does sound strange, rather than doesn't. I'll edit my reply now.

    Hi poppy
I don’t understand if they have paid me via the scheme for March why it’s just not automatic for April is there anyone that works on payroll that can answer my question so I can go back to them as I think they may be stalling. Thanks

Because they have to make a new claim for each period. It isn’t a rolling claim because the employer may wish to change the employees on furlough.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Thanks poppy but I’m confused as to why my partners company would have paid him on time but my company hasn’t

    thanks

It's probably due to something simple as cash flow.

if you've got the money in the bank & confident of the money coming in, then you're more willing to pay that money upfront than if you haven't
