habibbank 1 year fixed, no confirmation of deposit?

Hello I have applied for habibank 1 year fixed via the link from MSE (here), got email and mobile confirmation that I have applied however I noticed they do not provide you
Any actual online bank login details to your account but rather ask for the deposit money first.
I have yet to complete my full deposited amount into their requested deposit account and just wondered is this normal ?
I can not contact them to confirm they have received the deposit since they are closed (weekends) so just wondered can anyone confirm its normal, and they are genuine ?

For a slightly lower rate of 1.50%, I would choose RCI Bank over Habibank

Would have done some, this is first 'online' saving account I have seen where you don't actually get an online account....
Guess the money is still safe, protected for 12 months at least.

They have a Moorgate branch so the fact they have a open store front is a plus, still want something with online though.
  • 3.5 years later, are there any improved reviews concerning Habib Bank?  I found reference to the bank on MSE's comparison website, so had confidence in pursuing it.  I'm interested in depositing a fair sum of money for 12 months for a decent %.

I've opened the account, and received an attachment to an e-mail confirming the account details (which required elements of my ID as a password to access it).  They're now waiting for my deposit.  However, the attachment, by all current standards, looks unprofessional (no logo heading, just printed name and address), so decided to check a bit further.  Having made a google map search in Moorgate, London, I've found it, looking professional, but then looked for a website, and having found it, discover it's unresponsive, and not convincing at all.

Does anyone have a insight into the soundness of the business, please?

Note there are 2 "Habib Bank"s - Habib Bank Zurich, and Habib Bank Limited (Pakistan based). The former likes to remind people it's not part of the latter: Habib Bank Zurich Plc
Are you certain the website you found was for the one you want?

Are these small fry outfits worth the little extra interest?
  • Well, thanks for your comments.  I confirm it is Habib Bank Zurich, and I've actually proceeded with the transfer.  In terms of "inter-relationship" they've been very helpful & polite, not at all pushy...  I guess I'll only know in a year...

I was convinced they were on MSE's list of "best savings accounts" at the time I did it.... I don't see them listed now... which leads me to two questions:  am I mistaken about Habib Zurich being listed earlier?  am I right in having confidence in financial institutions listed on MSE's comparison website?

    Many thaks

It's a genuine bank, if that's what you're asking. Institutions come and go from the 'best' list.
  • Thanks wmb194:  I've got a lot to learn....  I've assumed if MSE lists an account, and if the % & terms given are accepable to me, it's a bank I could have confidence in dealing with.  Is this not wise?
