Refund Credit Note

My holiday booked for 23rd April was cancelled by Fleetway Ltd on 17th March. I have since received an email from them telling me to complete their online RCN form to rebook a holiday. My husband and I are in our 70s and he has underlying health problems so we really don't want to rebook. There is no mention of a cash refund, which is what I want, and the date of expiry on the form is 31st Dec 2021. My reading between the lines seems to indicate that I cannot get a cash refund until after that date - but it is very unclear and I think that is an unreasonable time to wait. Any help welcome!

If you mean Fleetway Travel Ltd, then I would press for a refund. Their accounts do not look healthy and they have extended their reporting period.
Did you pay by credit card and if so, check section 75 CCA (https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/section-75-of-the-consumer-credit-act) or check your travel insurance.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

Thank you for your reply. I have applied re Section 75 but not heard anything yet.
They have now acknowledged that I require a cash refund:-
" We fully appreciate you may have concerns as to the protection of the money that you have paid to Fleetway. We would stress that the Refund Credit Note is linked to your cancelled holiday which is fully protected and as such your money is safe. Upon expiry of the Refund Credit Note, if you have not redeemed the note for a holiday, you will be provided with a cash refund. Should you wish to wait for a cash refund, we will contact you once we have received back the money from the individual suppliers relating to your booking. We are currently unable to offer a definitive time frame for this, due to slower than normal responses from suppliers.
However if they are not financially sound then would I be better accepting a RCN knowing that I will get a refund in Jan 2022 rather than not at all or is my money protected anyway?

What I'm not sure of - am I protected anyway without a Refund Credit Note, or do I need to have that for extra protection? The package holiday was ATOL protected.0
