Sky Deal arranged throug Carphone Warehouse

Hi All, we recently went into carphone warehouse and they found us a great Broadband/TV deal through Sky. At the time we were with BT. Carphone warehouse telephoned BT with our authorisation to find out our contract length etc and to see if they could offer us better than Sky which they apologised for as they could not. They informed us we still had 4 months left of our contract. Carphone Warehouse then told us Sky would pay the remainder of our contract for switching to them. All went ok with the switch so we thought untill BT helped themselves to £186.52 from our bank for ending our contract early. Furious I contacted BT and was told that Sky had not told them of our move and we had to pay for the month we had changed over plus the rest for cancelling our contract early. I told them that Sky were supposed to pay the remainder of our contract according to Carphone Warehouse who had telephoned Sky whilst we were in the store.I have a friend who is an engineer that works for Sky and so I contacted him to see if he could find out any information. He was told that the provision went perfectly and BT acknowledged the number port request. He also said that BT are trying to pull a fast one and plead that Sky never informed them. They also said that BT should refund me. So I have BT saying Sky should refund me. Sky saying BT should refund me. So which is it? I have managed to speak to someone from BT but Sky is not available due to the Pandemic and Carphone Warehouse is not available either. Not quite sure where to turn here. Sky is telling me if BT dont refund me I should turn to OFFCOM. Dont know what to do, but I am £186 lighter which at this particular time is not very welcome at all. Please can someone shed some light on this

My own take on this is that you will have a fee to terminate which you pay - it's your BT contract after all, then Sky would send you the money to pay BT off? I wouldn't have thought Sky would get involved in paying accounts off for other people? So, BT have correctly charged you to end the contract early, it's Sky who promised to pay this, but they haven't - Sky owe you IMO0

You'd usually be liable remainder of the minimum term unless BT have agreed to waive the remainder. Sounds like the basic idea is you pay the fee to BT and you supply this bill to Sky who refund this or credit your Sky account directly.
Did you get anything in writing from CPW or Sky?0 -
Clearly your Sky friend told you what you wanted to hear and not the way it was. BT are correct in wanting a fee for you terminating early as per your terms and conditions. Do you have it in writing that Carphone Warehouse were going to pay you this fee to pass on or they were going to pay BT on your behalf? Otherwise you have encountered a salesperson who has fooled you.0

When Sky tried to poach me last year, from my current ISP ,PlusNet, the salesperson said that they would pay any early termination charges by means of a bill credit up to £100, NOT by paying PN -that would be my responsibility.0

Thank you all for your replies. Unfortunately during the Pandemic I cannot get hold of either Sky or Carphone by telephone. So I will have tbe patient and wait untilafter the lockdown.0
