My dad - and I quote - wants to ‘go up there and drag him out’ but I’ve explained that’s not how things work lol 😂. Hoping my solicitor will get back to me soon with some clarity but I’m not holding out hope1 -
There's nothing your solicitor can tell you. It's up to the seller to persuade her ex- to leave. I suggest you give it a couple of weeks, then decide whether to walk away. In practice, you're not going to be able to buy anywhere else at the moment, and the seller is not going to find a new buyer. It's not costing you any more in fees to let things run on until you find somewhere else to buy. It's just the emotional cost.

Eventually, she'll get the court to do something, but that could take a while. The question is whether that matters? You're not supposed to move now, anyway. And, any threat to walk away is a bit hollow, because you can't even start viewing other properties.

Our local estate are offering virtual house tours and are still allowing rental properties to be rented / houses to be purchased so he doesn’t have any reason not to look, especially when he’s had 4 months to look way before lockdown started but never bothered, and I could also view other properties if I wished.GDB2222 said:bethan11 said:

Personally, I'd be sueing the ex! Feel so sorry as the vendor is letting him stay there for nothing and they have a signed agreement.bethan11 said:

So latest update - is basically nothing! Not heard from my solicitor at all this week. I’ve sent them a further email advising that if the tenant was self-isolating then the isolation window would now of passed so there’s no reason to delay completion any further unless he has a shielding letter.
I drove past the property this week and I’ve now noticed that the letterbox and an outside light which is attached to the property are damaged and the front kitchen window pane appears to be blown as it’s full of condensation- it wasn’t like this when I made the offer so I’m not sure what I need to do to get this rectified? It’s also making me nervous of what the inside of the property is now like
