My classic Aqua credit card arrived yesterday morning and I activated it online in the morning. However, a few hours later after I did my shopping at a store (which accepts Mastercard, I checked) the card was declined.
I rang up Aqua, they unblocked the card and said it should be working fine in 'about 5 minutes'. Today I went shopping again (different store but also accepting my card type) and the same thing happened again. My PINs correct, my online and mobile banking account are working fine but the card may be faulty, I don't really know. I'll ring them again to unblock the card but just wondering if this has happened to anyone else by any chance?

I have an Aqua and an Amazon (NewDay) card.

Only happened once when the security on a new card was apparently compromised.  They cancelled the card number twice in quick succession meaning I had to wait for a new card on both occasions.

On the very first use of my Aqua card I had a similar issue - once I'd called them - all was fine after that. They told me at the time that it was likely a problem with the retailers chip and pin terminal - but in my own mind I thought it might have been an additional security measure. Hopefully from your next use it'll be fine. Try it for a small purchase from Boots or something like that - give it a test run on a low value product.
