Tried applying for this yesterday & today - both times today 'Online application unavailable'. Would this be because it is no longer on offer as others on their website are?

Yes tried this morning.Looks like rate has changed to 1.10% I think.
Went with Charter Savings 1.26%1 -
They might be dropping their rate, or have withdrawn the 1-year ISA altogether. Given their reputation for abysmal systems and CS, they might actually have done you a favour.
You could try Charter Bank (1.26%) or Ford Money (1.25%) if a cash ISA is indeed your best bet as your Personal Savings Allowance might give you tax-free interest anyway and you can still get >1.5% non-ISA 1-year deals.1
