Some use Avios to fly in First Class for close to, or less than the cash price that others pay for economy.
It doesn't work for everyone, but I wouldn't say it's rubbish.

Even if you found a Visa card offering similar reward levels to your existing Mastercard and American Express cards, you presumably wouldn't use it anywhere near enough to collect enough points to be useful for anything.0 -
Not to hijack the thread, because I was thinking of the same question. It seems to be Natwest reward vs Barclaycard reward. I note Natwest charge an annual fee unless you have their Reward Current Account.. And with a Reward CA an eligible direct debit would not include the direct debit to settle the credit card off each month?

Natwest reward card is a Mastercard so wouldn't fit in with a Visa card requirement that @Malkytheheed seems to be wanting.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

You say you aren't desperate for one yet in your original post you say this "thought it might be safe to get a VISA card on the off chance something happened to MasterCard". Which to me implies that you are desperate to get one, otherwise why ask the question and waste peoples time?

I have the IHG Rewards White and Black, and Lloyds Bank Avios credit cards, which are MC, but also Barclaycard Hilton, MBNA Horizon, Nationwide Select, all of which are Visa. And out of them, only the IHG White card is actually available to new applicants, so I think it's reflective of the situation post capping swipe fees than of a Visa vs. MC thing.
My Aussie cards are mostly Visa though (ANZ, NAB, Citibank, Westpac are also predominantly Visa), Bankwest Qantas World Mastercard and Coles Rewards Platinum MC (issued by Citibank) being the only Mastercards I hold over here.0 -

Numerous free first class transatlantic tickets.LOL indeed!!As I said in an earlier post what you consider to be rubbish someone else with think its amazing, just as you think Avios points are amazing penners324 thinks Avios is rubbish, you consider the Barclaycard Rewards card rubbish, others may find it amazing.Your not going to find a visa credit card in the UK that offers anything like Amex does as it charges merchants a higher merchant fee, which is then used to help subside the cost of there rewards programVisa and Mastercard are capped at 0.3% Amex charges anything from 1% to 3% depending on the retailer and how much a transaction is.Life in the slow lane0
