I am very sorry for your loss but surely it has made you see that you can't keep breeding dogs into unnatural shapes and in tiny gene pools without causing them incredible harm?  Harm like the way your poor pup suffered.  Stupid selfish humans have bred them into a shape that means most of them can't even give birth to pups naturally, keep themselves clean, regulate their temperatures or tolerate normal levels of exercise. 

All dogs are loving, wonderful animals, they deserve better. 

The same is true of lots of other breeds too, that's absolutely correct.

If dog is a 'chattel' as I believe (in law, I hasten to add) then I'm thinking that you may well be covered. If you purchase   say. a washing machine and it falls apart after a year  then it wasn't 'fit for purpose' - you might also argue that is the case with a dog. I don't know what the life expectancy for a Bulldog is, but of course it is longer than months.

You might want to contact the Bulldog breed society to ask for their help?

Sadly I agree with the poster above in that many dogs are being bred with over emphasised features so that they no longer can have a normal life. However loving a dog, if it can't for starters , breathe properly I don't actually understand what is going on. I believe if you look at pictures of bulldogs from 100 years ago you will see the breed has changed beyond recognition.
Saying that I am sorry you have had such a devastating experience.

I would think you would have a case in the small claims court provided you didn't buy the dog knowing it was faulty. But first of all you need to send a letter before action.
