Any THTC Advice Please?

Symbio are charging me 11.45p per kWh and 15p per day. THTC appears to be a rip off. Change providers or move home!

The problem i have with THTC is they've now put me up to the following price:
Standing Charge (per day) 26.60p Standard energy (per kWh) 19.90p Heating control energy (per kWh) 16.04p
I could get this slightly cheaper by recontracting, but given the ridiculous prices the THTC now has, I wanted to move to economy 7 so I could leave SSE. No other provider will take on a THTC meter.
SSE told me this wasn't possible. I ended up calling various times to SSE and eventually they said it would be possible with a meter change. I'm still waiting for the meter change 5 months later. I complained and got a rubbish letter back basically telling me not to contact them again about it and just wait. They also tried to blame Covid19 but this was all before that started.
If I could get away from THTC I certainly would.0 -
Use their complaints process if they wont get on with it - waiting or phoning and whinging doesn't help but a kick up the rear with a formal complaint frequently.
Make your complaint in writing, marking it COMPLAINT in big letters stating the facts and send it both by e-mail and recorded delivery snail mail.
Once you've you've started the complaint clock ticking you can then get the ombudsman involved after eight weeks if they haven't sorted it out.

How come everyone is apparently quoting different rates for the same tariff & supply region???richieh07 said:The problem i have with THTC is they've now put me up to the following price:Standing Charge (per day) 26.60p Standard energy (per kWh) 19.90p Heating control energy (per kWh) 16.04p

We're in Argyll and Bute. When I looked at changing to Our Power just as they went bust, their tariff was 13% higher here, (but cheaper that SSE) than my at my parents near Lockerbie. I believe the true Highlands and Islands are more expensive. I think this is shocking as it is these communities that cannot get mains gas.slimbuck said:Carlrt said:We're currently on the SSE 1 year THTC tariff which charges at:

Lockerbie is in the Scottish Power legacy supply region.

I’m in Shetland so think we pay a bit more. I have my storage heaters set very low, but im still paying around £200 a month. Dont use much on the other meter, about 80% is heating. I’ve been through calls and letters to complain. Their current stance seems to be ‘stop complaining as we’re busier than usual.’ Also ona community hall here and having similar issue. They wouldnt give us a new contract while we waited for a single rate meter to be installed. 2 years later we still wait for the meter and have had to pay out of contract rates all that time. Currently have utility aid dealing with them on that.0

Sorry to confuse, it was the now defunct Our Power tariff in Lockerbie that was 13% cheaper than the one I was trying to change to here in Argyll and Bute.Flt._Lt._Biggles said:

Who'd have thought 1 supplier would have so many different THTC tariffs in the same supply region at the same time?waltermcculloch said:...
My 1 year fix on my THTC tariff with SSE is nearly up, I phoned them today and the cheapest they could offer me was the following:
Standard Electricity Rate = 19.65 pence per kwh
THTC Electricity Rate = 15.83 pence per kwh (this has actually gone up by 3.26 pence from the rate I was being charged on my 1 year fix)
Standing Charge = 26.60 pence per day.

Don’t bother raising a complaint, this will not help in this case. Suppliers are allowed to charge whatever they want for their energy, you will just be deadlocked. Since the price cap came into place most company’s have increased their none standard meter prices, as most were underchanging previously. Some have gone from 6p for the heat unit to 15p which is more than double. The ombudsman won’t get involved as it’s outside the terms of reference. Only option is to change supplier if you are unhappy with the price. However, you then run the risk of not getting the same meter if it breaks.0
