Vaccination and chipping costs? Puppy

Also, how long do they typically have to wait before being allowed out for walks/in the garden after vaccination?
Yes, I will ask the vet but it's Sunday and I'm impatient!

The puppy should be chipped by the breeder before delivery, ours was, anyway the main cost is the registration fee. Make sure the puppy is registered properly on the databases. The puppy should have started on a course of vaccinations as well as other checks before collection. You should get a copy of who did what. Check what vaccine was used as if you go to a vet who doesn’t use the same vaccine then you will have to start from scratch again. The health plan is worth it as it covers the monthly flea and worm treatment, checkups and may cover ongoing vaccinations. It also gives 10% off some treatments such as neutering. Flea and worm is £11 each month anyway at our vets. Talk to the vets about walking but it is several weeks. Take the puppy out in a bag \ your arms to get him used to being outside before walking but safe from other dogs, the risk is pretty minimal really but you don’t want to risk anything. And get insurance which will cover him/her for life. Worth it if you have lifelong conditions like our last dog who was diagnosed with epilepsy at 9 months. He lived to 10.5 years. Enjoy, ours is now a 9 month old terror!0

The puppy needs to be 12 weeks ,( after the 2nd vaccination) before they can be taken in public places like street or park. As long as you have enclosed garden I think they can go there after the first vaccination' maybe before.
Please make quite sure about vaccinations at the moment because some vets are doing them and some are not as I think the RCVS has ruled that vaccinations aren't critical! So my advice would be to shop around at present. The other thing is that normally you would go and visit vet, chat to staff, let your pup explore the premises and generally make it a fun experience. That is not happening - either the pet goes indoors alone with vet nurse or all the proceedures take place in the car park which can be unnerving for a youngster (or even an oldie)
When dog gets annual booster the vet gives them a check over. Generally drugs for worming and fleas can be bought cheaper online - the very same drugs that you buy from the surgery. You need to do your research. Do not use drugs sold in the supermerket- not a good choice.
Monthly package may, or may not be worth the money. It very much depends exactly what is included.
Once things are back to normal.... whenever .... do take your pup to classes especially if you are new to dog owning. Again go and visit beforehand and only go to one that uses 'positive reinforcement'. See if Dogs Trust do classes in your area.

Ha, can't see to add to my post!
Insurance is a debatable point and I don't want to get into that minefield! But if you decided not to insure please make sure you get public liability insurance- and the easiest way for that is to join Dogs Trust.

Buying the drugs for fleas and worms online appears cheaper, but the overall cost depends on how much your Vet will charge for issuing the prescription.

The pup must be microchipped by the breeder
Microchipping dogs
It's now a legal requirement to have any dog over the age of eight weeks microchipped in England and Wales.
Who can microchip my dog and how much does it cost?
You can arrange for your local vet to microchip your dog, prices will vary however they'll usually charge around £15.
Some local animal charities and organisations, as well as some local authorities also offer microchipping. Some will offer it for free, however prices will again vary.
What happens if I don't get my dog microchipped?
If your dog isn't microchipped and registered on an approved database then you could be served with a notice ordering you to microchip your dog. You'll have 21 days to do so or you may be liable to pay a £500 fine and could face criminal prosecution.
If your contact details change and you don't update your details on the database, then you could also receive a notice and may be liable to pay a fine of £500.
A dog is only exempt from being microchipped if a vet certifies in writing that they cannot be microchipped for health reasons.
Whose responsibility is it to microchip a puppy?
All dog breeders are responsible for ensuring puppies are microchipped before selling them. Puppies cannot be sold until they are eight-weeks-old and must be microchipped at the point of sale.
If you're buying a puppy make sure it's microchipped before taking them home. Take a look at our other advice on buying a healthy happy puppy.
Breeders must also register their details on the database to be recorded against the microchip for the life of the dog. A person is considered to be a 'breeder' if they are the owner of a dog which gives birth, whether or not they carry on a business as a breeder of dogs.
If you do not insure your puppy- a good breeder will give 4 weeks free insurance when you get your puppy- then make sure you open a bank account for future vet bills so you build up a pot of money to use. It is no use opening one once your puppy needs treatment.
If you opt for insurance make sure you read the policy document- not the summary- to ensure you know exactly what is covered.
If it is important that the insurance company pay the vet direct, rather than you paying and claiming it back, then check with your vet what companies he will do that with.
All costs are set by the vet so vary from one vet to another.

Okay I didn't realise it was different for dogs
My experience with cat flea and worm treatments was mostly everything the Vet themselves supplied was POM.0 -
Just to mention - Chances are we will still be in lockdown so picking it up on the 10th doesn’t look very likely.0

Cripes, thank you for your comments. The owners said they would normally have first vaccinations done etc, but as 108th May is a Sunday and she'll be 8 weeks on that day, they won't be able to get her vaccinated. When I spoke to the vet in general terms last week about it, they said gov had ok'd visits for vaccinations. Feeling like the owners are taking advantage.
It's a really short distance to collect, will be there and back within 30 minutes0
