Hello everyone
I used my free Revolut account to receive my tax credits and child benefit. Everything was good until after my self assessment for 2019/2020 I received from hmrc tax overpayment. My mother comes and works in Uk 6 months per year, after self assessment she received tax overpayment. She decided to appoint as the nominee to receive her money on my Revolut account due to no fees for sending money abroad and good exchange rate. When i received the money from hmrc I got it from both accounts in the same day so Revolut decided to block my account.

I have sent them all the documents they requested but they still left my account blocked and they told me they don’t have a timeframe for how long it will take them to unlock it.
My biggest problem, as I am receiving tax credits financially I am dependent of these money and now I can’t get it and I am left without any money.
I told them to block the amounts received as tax overpayment until they finish reviewing the source and whatever they have to check and give me back access to my account so I can use the money from tax credits as I need them on weekly basis and they said they can’t do that.

My question is :
Is it legal for Revolut to block me from accessing money received from tax credits? If no, what can I do besides changing the account ( already done that and hopefully next week I’ll the money in my new account)

How does/can she claim tax credits if she is only in the UK for 6 months of the year?

because HMRC paid both OPs tax credits and mums tax rebate into one bank account it was flagged as fraud and the bank account was closed.
OP has opened a new bank account. The end.1
