Help Regarding Self Isolation

Hello. My girlfriend has to self isolate for 12 weeks because she is vulnerable. The company will pay 10 weeks of her pay in full and the other 2 weeks have to be taken in holidays. Surly that’s unfair she has to give up her holidays due to Covid-19.

Lots of people are having to give up their holidays and lots more besides.

She is very lucky to be getting 10 weeks full pay.  Many are only getting SSP.

I cannot get away in my motorhome like I normally do but it's a small price to pay to keep people safe.

If she's received the NHS letter then she will be shielding for 12 weeks and not self isolating, they are 2 completely different things. I also think she's very luck to receive full pay for 10 weeks, there's most likely thousands of people that won't receive anything at all.

They are not obliged to pay her normal pay. If she has received 'shielding' letter she is entitled to SSP. If she hasn't she isn't entitled to anything.

10 weeks full pay? Dear me, she is on to a right winner there. You have no right to moan.

Also in a 12 week period it was probably the case she was going to take a weeks holiday anyway?

Do you mean your girlfriend has received an official letter recommending 'shielding' for twelve weeks because she is in the 'highly vulnerable' group? OR do you mean that she is in the 'at risk/ vulnerable' group and has chosen to 'self-isolate'?

My understanding is that would be social distancing not self isolating. Self isolating is for those with symptoms of coronavirus or living with someone who has symptoms.

So having to use 2 weeks holidays for 12 weeks off paid and you think that is unfair? What job does she have as I am sure plenty of people would love to have it.

My husband received a letter from his GP surgery yesterday stating that after reviewing their records that he is deemed to be in the "vulnerable" group and that their advice is that he should Self Isolate at home. They actually wrote Self Isolate in bold capitals. I've called them today for clarification as his employer requires notification if he receives a letter and they reiterated that he was vulnerable and should self isolate and stay at home as much as possible as opposed to being classified as extremely vulnerable and recommended to shield. This was directly from the practice manager. I too thought that self isolation related to those with symptoms, but our practice clearly think otherwise.

Shielding for 12 weeks.  She has received a few letters from the NHS and other doctors.

If the GPs don't understand the terminology it just goes to show how complicated it has all got!
