You are not alone in being tricked.  There is a group on social medial with over 5500 members who have had the same.  I am livid as they actually told me to go "online to do the refund" as I needed a breakdown of what I was getting and more importantly not getting back as the insurance company asked.  When I asked for the call recording, they said they could not find it!
They then lied on Twitter (screenshots this time!) that any member of your party could use ALL of the vouchers, which apparently you cannot.  So they really need to take a look at this and change it.
Saying they cannot change it back is clearly not true.  They could it they wanted, they just don't.  In my case I even told them to keep the vouchers, make them void, I do not care, just send me a cancellation invoice saying you are keeping all £3800 but they refused to do that as well.

Has anybody managed to get through to the BA number for refunds? 0800 727800
Or does anyone have a better number to call?
    Thanks
  • My flight was cancelled by BA , in the manage my booking page of the BA site there are two buttons one says "Voucher" the other say "cancel" BEWARE!!!!! both these buttons activate a Voucher, after sitting on the phone for an hour and a half I was told by the agent I should have called customer services and because I has clicked on cancel I had accepted the voucher. I was told "not even the CEO of BA could reverse this action" . Once you have clicked the button you can no longer go back to check the small print on the page. I am now stuck with a voucher for £1098 and can make no plans to travel in the near future. Still trying to fight this piece of underhand trickery but not sure how far I will get

My understanding is the vouchers are valid to April 2022, so plenty of time to travel.

BA is practicing unfairly as a company.  They removed the refund button from their website.  Then they understaff their call centre so it´s impossible to call for a refund.  This creates a lot of pressure to take the "easy" option of clicking online for a voucher.  Now the kicker is that flights are unavailable for many many days and months in advance.  I´m finding many other airlines that can fly me but I can´t get my money back.  BA is sneaky and disgusting.  The terms and conditions of taking the voucher were too confusing to read and understand.  Complaining to them just cost me time and more frustration.  Many emails back and forth with them not caring at all.  I´ll be continuing to post wherever I can how awful they are as an organisation.  Their cash flow problems are not my concern.  I was tricked as a consumer, tricked by their inept sneaky systems that clearly pushed me to the voucher.
