There seems to be a difference of opinion on what does and doesn’t end your fast

some day tea and other drinks as long as no milk or sugar wil not take you out of fasted state

bit others say anything apart from water will take you out

I tried the intermittent fasting, but it's tough for me... My diet is based mostly on fruits and vegetables

Mine is, too. I'm vegetarian, with occasional cheese.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

  • Does vit c dissolved in water take you out of a fasted state?
I think it would have an insulin response but I would like to hear what others think?
  • I’m researching these vit c tabs that you dissolve in water, I’m not actually sure if they end a fast.

does anybody else know do they have any calories in?
  • I've been fasting for a while and during that time fasting, and intermittent fasting has strangely become popular.  But, I think people are just into it to make themselves feel good about themselves without actually fasting.  Fasting is simple, drink water, that's it, consume zero calories by not eating and drinking stuff that is not water.  Not hard.  Same with intermittent fasting, just drink water.  Everyone that is looking for what happens when I drink this thing that is not water, does that end my fast?  Yes it does.  Keep it simple, if you want to fast, just don't eat, and drink plain regular water, although sparkling water is fine too.

Practice, that's not quite right. Fasting is any decent duration without food, hence the first meal of the day is break fast.
I wouldn't worry about calories in a tablet.

Hi Would anyone be interested in an Intermitent fasting thread?  I had some good results last year with this way of eating.  However since lockdown i have put on so much weight snacking all day mainly biscuits.  I felt really well doing Omad or one meal a day. I didn't count calories or cut food groups out Just ate one evening meal no starving.  Has anyone else done this or intermittent fasting. If there is already a thread please point me to this. If you have any tips or suggestions books on the subject please post.
I do 18:6 and I feel fantastic! Losing weight, gaining energy. I'm interested in doing one or two OMAD days a week, but I'm unsure what time to have my meal for best results. Like how many hours before bed works best?

I don't fast deliberately. But if I don't feel like eating, I don't. I can go from 20:00 to 16:00 without eating  or hunger. Depends what I've eaten and I'm low carb. Suggest looking at dietdoctor.com and watching videos by Dr Jason Fung.

I've been doing intermittent fasting for a month. I've read Gin Stephens book , Delay don't deny,  and found it very informative. Weight loss happens , not  always quickly , but it has many other benefits. Lots of questions are answered and the science behind IF explained in the book. I fast until 2 or a bit later when I have a snack. I stop eating at 7pm after dinner. Our daughter does one or two 36-40 hour fasts weekly.  Don't think I could ever do that . So far so good.
  • I had success with my version of the 5/2 diet
I just severely cut down on weekdays, then relax and eat sensibly at the weekend. I have crept up to 14 stone, so but on the 5/2 again.
I find it easier to cut back on food when I am working and busy. At home 24/7 during lockdown was not good, if I get somewhere near 13 stone I will be pleased.
