Marriage allowance lost cheque

I first applied for the Marriage allowance tax refund in late January. It all went through and we received the paperwork on 3rd February informing us of my husbands changed tax code and that we would receive the cheque within 14days. After a few weeks had passed, my husband called the HMRC (it took forever to get through) and they said they would send another and do an inquiry as to where the other had gone. We were assured that the second cheque would be with us by 3rd April. We'll here we are on the 22nd and no sign of it again. Its a significant amount of money and now I am on sick/furlough it would be very useful to us right now. What do I do now?

From experience of workinG for  HMRC they will not send another cheque until they have confirmation that the original cheque has not been cashed and has been cancelled.
