  • I don't think this is true at all Acorn are a good solid company who have worked very hard in the industry, personally our company has worked with Acorn for over 15 years and Acorn Stairlifts would not be in business in this was the case. Don't be frightened of buying an Acorn they do what they say on the tin and provide you with a good stairlift and good service. See our comparison chart at caremorstairlifts.co.uk
  • Try a local engineer as they are lots cheaper that is for sure. Try the yellow pages or a google search. Big companies tend to try and sell you insurance policies, the advantage is you are covered for a whole year.

    another spammers convention, i see.
    Get some gorm.
  • We had a stairlift fitted 12 months ago and today I received a phone call off the company offering me to extend the breakdown cover on the stairlift for a range of prices from £250 for the 1st year going up upto £600 for 4 years cover.

Does anyone know of anywhere that covers stairlifts for breakdowns? and if there is anyone cheaper?

I have just found a guy who will come out for a one off charge of £55 plus parts for a one hour consultation. Much cheaper than £595 for 4 years. Jane
  • I hope the OP has not been sat at the bottom of the stairs for the last 5 years
  • Have had an Acorn Stairlift for 9 years never needed a service it is not used a lot. They have been trying to sell me a service the 4 year one for £595 inc 4 services any breakdowns and parts they have also told me that in time they may not be able to supply the parts needed but I could purchase a new stairlift for half price. I was told the engineer carried a full range of parts
My grandaughter aged 2 managed to tip some Leggo down the stairs causing what I would call a minor fault so they had me at last Paid the £595 and the engineer arrived removed the front and told me the red phono plug had broken it was due to the amount of times it had been serviced, he said he did not have that part and I may need a new stairlift, when I pointed out it had never been opened he changed his mind and said it broke as he took the front off. he showed me the part which was clear that he had twisted the lug off and that it was another part that was at fault he did not have that part either.
This company is a con they are taking money from the disabled they have no intention of repairing a stairlift even though it was sold by them they are only out to sell you a newer model.
  • Acorn or Stanna a big con I will never use them again they are robbing the old and disabled
