Submitted my 19/20 return on 6th April so day after tax year end. Realised I’d made a mistake so had to wait 48 hrs before it appeared on my account do I had to change my mistake and resent it on the 8th. We had Easter that weekend and with all this I still got my rebate on 21st so 15 days total wait for me.
Did you get your money the next day into your bank account though? I submitted my tax return on 6th and it got "approved" on 22nd when the repayment was issued but i am still waiting for my money. What baffles me is where it actually is - I doubt it's my bank holding it / I have already contacted them and they can't see anything pending etc but HMRC keep saying it was issued on 22nd but can take 10 days to receive? I don't understand what that 10-day timescale actually means..

So to actually answer your question i think the day 10 days is for security and fraud checks etc.
  • Did mine on April 6th and still waiting. Says repayment pending, will that status change before I receive money then? Or will money appear in account and then status change?

It will first change to "Repayment issued" and you will then get it in your account. Would normally say the next working day but not sure now since have been waiting for a week and even received a letter today confirming the repayment is being issued but still don't have it.
  • Usually get mine 15th -18th by submitting on 6th. Such a pain that when you need it most it’s delayed!

I submitted mine on 6th and I don't mind waiting when it says "pending" - it's when it went to "issued" - that's when I became a little anxious since in all the previous tax years it was in my account the following day.
