Expedia - BA flights

Not sure if this has been posted before but booked to go to Vegas in 8th May flying from Dublin with BA. Booked a package holiday through Expedia. They’ll started to issue a refund for the hotel but for the flight are only offering a credit note (BA have cancelled the flights), spoke to BA directly and they said I’m due a refund but because I booked via Expedia, it has to be Expedia who issues the refund. Can’t speak to anyone at Expedia but got the email confirmation for a credit note. Thoughts on what I should do? Am I entitled to a full refund? Expedia won’t confirm the dates the credit note is valid to & I’ve tried calling their customer services but they cut me off.

BA are being a little disingenuous. They are indeed offering refunds and you are entitled to one if the flight was cancelled BUT they are making it more difficult to obtain a refund in cash over a credit note. A physical call BA has to be made to have them start the process of a cash refund, where as a credit can be administered on line.
Your application does need to be made via Expedia but with the volumes of calls and work I would imagine not only is this taking a lot of time but the easiest options will be taken. For an Expedia staffer to press a button to convert your BA booking to a credit is relatively minor and easy. To come away from what they are doing and perhaps ring BA and sit in a hold queue for hours, not likely. I suspect this is why they have so far offered you this option.
It seems like you have a package or linked travel arrangement as as such the Operator (Expedia) would be liable and responsible for returning your money. That said and whilst they shouldn't, they are likely to be like most other travel firms and looking to only process your refund as and when they receive the refund themselves from the airline (BA). So, you are entitled to a refund but will likely be offered a credit note. If this does not suit you then you can certainly push for a cash refund. Be aware however that at the moment few businesses are freely giving these and any legal resource options are not likely to get you the desired outcome at his time.
Whilst not ideal it might be worth looking at the terms offered of a credit note, many have a repayment date if not used to rebook.0
