Problem with Sky continuous payments via Tesco credit card

I have had a problem paying my Sky subscription via continuous payment with my Tesco credit card for months. Every month my credit card details were removed resulting in late payments. I called Sky and they informed me that Tesco removed the card not them, Tesco kept informing me that Sky removed it not them.

After weeks of twoing and throwing and getting nowhere,  I wrote into Sky HQ and made a complaint as Tesco assured me 100% it was Sky removing my card details. Sky contacted me and informed me that my card was requested to be removed by Tesco every week and they were duty bound to remove it. They emailed me stating these facts, including all the dates the removal was requested which I then I forwarded this onto Tesco and raised a complaint.

After around 6 weeks Tesco came back to me and informed me that after investigating, they found that they they had no such process for removing cards and again said it was Sky not them. I called Sky back and they emailed me a screenshot of the said spreadsheet they receive which included my card details (they blanked out all other sensitive info)

I forwarded  this  email onto Tesco and asked them to investigate it further as I now had proof that such a spreadsheet existed with my card details on it. Tesco have now come back to me and said it changes nothing, the spreadsheet is not from them and this was the final communication on the matter.

Does anyone have any ideas where  I go from here? I have used a different card for Sky now and so far had no problems. But I would like to know who and why my card is continuously being removed by an unknown body it seems!

If you've resolved it by using another card, I wouldn't waste any more time on it.

I would want to know, too. But now is not the time to be bothering people with something that is curious, but really not that important.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Have you ever previously contacted Tesco and told them to stop payments to Sky or other payee? If you have then your card details are added to a visa (take it Mastercard) have the same. As such when payment is applied for it is declined and details removed.
If you have then you need to get Tesco to remove it from the system. Usually takes about 48 hours to take effect.
Other than that can't see why Tesco would remove details. Unless they have it generically set to stop all their cards on recurring payments, but I do not think that is the case as there would be no end of complaints on here about it.

The problem started last year long before the current climate. I would just like to get my card removed off Skys credit card blacklist. My main concern is having the same problem with another provider/retailer,  nothing to do with curiosity. The problem is, I have no idea where this list is being generated as its not the bank and I was hoping for any knowledge of where such a list can be generated from if not the bank.
    Many Thanks

No. I have never asked them to stop payments and Tesco are adamant this request is not from them and they have assured me that there are no blocks on my card at all.  But, I have seen the spreadsheet with my card details on it from Sky. Sky maintain it is from Tesco. Sky said this list is for cards that have been blocked, cancelled or over their limits. I don't know who can generate such a list if not the bank?

Your best way to achieve this is by cancelling your Tesco credit card. Front line support staff at Tesco Bank will never put you in contact with anyone who can investigate the root cause of the problem with your card, far less take on the responsibility of resolving the problem themselves. Just walk away.

Cards are added to the list by the bank. But they can also remove them from the list. Certainly on Visa.
These lists are not sent to retailers by banks. They are provided by Visa/Mastercard.
Tesco looks like they are Mastercard. So not sure how that system would work.
I would raise it as a complaint with Tesco and let that team investigate. They will work with the team that deals with the system, not the front line call center who will just see no block.
Unless someone has blocked your card in error.
As Chino, these lists are usually card specific. So changing the card might help, but I would have to say that on the Visa system we can set it to accounts, rather than cards. So that would not help. But worth a try if you can manage without a card for a while.

Other option, just set up a DD for the payment.

That would make perfect sense that is the list is coming from Mastercard not Tesco. It would also explain why they said they have not blocked my card or added it onto any list. I would not have a clue how to get in touch with Mastercard (or if that is even possible). So I will likely take the easy route that you and Chino suggested and cancel my card. I believe it must have been added in error as there has never been an issue with my account before now.

    Thank you for your reply.

if tesco said it was their final communication then that is their resolution. take it to the FOS for an adjudication for the embarrassment humiliation and intimidation it has caused you. could be some money for you
