Apple App Store refund denied

Options
An app offered me a 7 day free trial but then I was charged by Apple the same day. I tried contacting Apple and then said I had to contact the app developer but when I did they told me that because Apple had taken the money they couldn’t give me a refund. Both seem to be palming me off onto the other one and I’m not sure what my rights are

  • I received an email from Apple to say a payment had been taken that day. I cancelled immediately, contacted my credit card company and contacted Apple support... Surely there is a law that states the company MUST give notice of a renewal before the payment is taken. THIS IS A SCAM! Apple are supporting SCAMMERS!!!!!!

So you had a subscription, but didn't realise you were at the end of it and were getting charged again?

In Settings, tap your name and then subscriptions and you would see all the subscriptions you currently have quite clearly.

See How to cancel a subscription from Apple – Apple Support (UK)

    About cancelling subscriptions from Apple

    • Most subscriptions are renewed automatically unless you cancel them.
    • If you cancel a paid subscription, you can keep using the subscription until the next billing date.
    • If you cancel during a free trial period, you may lose access to the subscription immediately.

If you signed up for a free or discounted trial subscription and you don't want to renew it, cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

They didn't have to tell you its going to renew as long as they are clear that it is automatic renewal upfront.
