New Fridge Freezer Advice

This is a 70/30 FF, if you search on AO you can change it to a 50/50 split or 60/40 whichever you want ?elsmandino said:Thank you.
The fridge/freezer split issue is the major thing for us, at the moment.
So frustrating that we cannot physically see any of these fridges to check.
My only real basis of comparison is that this model is very similar to what we currently have:
https://www.lg.com/uk/fridge-freezers/lg-GRF459BSGA-fridge-freezer
which claims 244 litres of net fridge space and 88 litres of net freezer space.
The Liebherr seems to be suggesting 243 litres of net fridge and 95 litres for freezer.
It would seem that the Lilebherr is giving us more freezer space than we currently have (which is a good thing), but I agree - from the photo, something just doesn't look right.

The one thing I have noticed is how inaccurate the split can be as far as descriptions go.
In the end, I had to actually calculate the actual split, based upon net volume, which was approx 70/30 (actually 69/31).
On AO, they advertise the Fridge as 60/40 - quite a mismatch between the two.
Based upon our current fridge freezer being largely the same, the 70/30 split will probably be a good fit for my family.
However, it then raises the question of whether 70/30 is only good for my family because we have learnt to live with the size for so many years.
As Steve L mentions, there has been a huge swing towards bigger fridges and smaller freezers. Am not quite sure what the reasoning is behind this - is the population, perhaps, preferring fresh food as opposed to frozen?

Amazing how people differ, prefer a larger fridge and a smaller freezer as we prefer to buy a few days fresh supplies at a time.Steve_L said:I agree with the fridge/freezer split. Ideally a big freezer and small fridge. With a freezer you don't need a big fridge. Our very old Kelvinator was like this. However, when I was looking for a replacement 10 years ago, all of them were big fridge & small freezer. Our current Indesit was the closest to 50:50. The capacities should be in the specification.

It's a weird market. Most people I know want a bigger freezer than fridge so they can stock up and store things for a long time. But almost invariably the ratio is bigger fridge and smaller freezer. No manufacturer seems to want to give the public what they want. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker1

We got an under counter fridge and 2 under counter freezers so that gives us 140 liters fridge space and 200 liters freezer space and more counter space. If one of them breaks then we only have to repair or replace one of them.1

I don't follow your logic...
If all you had was just one fridge-freezer and it broke, you would still only have to repair or replace one appliance!Deleted_User said:We got an under counter fridge and 2 under counter freezers so that gives us 140 liters fridge space and 200 liters freezer space and more counter space. If one of them breaks then we only have to repair or replace one of them.

You have achieved Kohlinahr, John_Gray'am.

They are both premium brands so that makes sense. I suspect Miele refrigeration is rebranded Liebherr.naf123 said:Liebherr is I think the same as a Miele ....same factory ...Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
