Thank you - that was a big concern as I only just have enough room, width-wise, for all the fridge freezers I have been looking at.  Pretty grim having to look at this in such a flap - I would usually take weeks to research such a purchase.

I think I have decided to go for one of these:
    https://ao.com/product/cnel4813-liebherr-fridge-freezer-stainless-steel-69753-28.aspx
I had never heard of the brand but the general feeling is that they are pretty bulletproof.
Bosch seem to be very close too - have some great models out there.  They seem to offer extra features that apparently make food last longer but I am never sure if that is just guff.

Agreed - weird how companies are diversifying.
I always found it strange that Caterpillar started making jeans (of course, I had a pair).
  • The thing with that one is the fridge/freezer split is wrong, the fridge part is too big and the freezer part too small. I’d want more like a 60% freezer 40% fridge split.
The freezer section and that one looks quite small.

    Thank you.
The fridge/freezer split issue is the major thing for us, at the moment.
So frustrating that we cannot physically see any of these fridges to check.
My only real basis of comparison is that this model is very similar to what we currently have:
    https://www.lg.com/uk/fridge-freezers/lg-GRF459BSGA-fridge-freezer
which claims 244 litres of net fridge space and 88 litres of net freezer space.
The Liebherr seems to be suggesting 243 litres of net fridge and 95 litres for freezer.
It would seem that the Lilebherr is giving us more freezer space than we currently have (which is a good thing), but I agree - from the photo, something just doesn't look right.
  • Stay clear of Zanussi, I had no end of problems with a frost free fridge freezer, a design flaw where there was a gap in the very back of freezer (outside back) where there was a big gap between the compressor and the evaporation tray, so not enough heat to evaporate the water, which would fill tray and then spill onto kitchen floor every two months.
Got a replacement from them, did exactly the same thing, replaced with a Hotpoint no problem whatsoever.

What a terrible design.  I did actually look at a couple of Zanussis, but had to discount them all for size reasons - which is definitely a plus, give your experience.
I had to go for the Lieber in the end - was pretty much forced into it, given the circumstances.
I wouldn't usually make such a rash decision but good reviews and a mid-price have left me pretty confident that I have least not bought something terrible.
    Thank you for everyone's help.

Leibherr are the best for refrigeration.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I agree with the fridge/freezer split. Ideally a big freezer and small fridge. With a freezer you don't need a big fridge. Our very old Kelvinator was like this. However, when I was looking for a replacement 10 years ago, all of them were big fridge & small freezer. Our current Indesit was the closest to 50:50. The capacities should be in the specification.
