Bank account for pensioner

Hi
I'm looking to find a bank account for my mum. She won't be having any direct debits come out of the account and just needs something simple and easy, preferably with a passbook (if they still exist)
Does anyone know of any high street banks or building societies that might offer the above?

If she wants a passbooks she would need to have a savings account.
Investigate Yorkshire BS or Virgin Money. There will be many more.
Is she already in receipt of a pension? If so, how and where is that being paid?

She has just relocated from abroad so her foreign pension will be going into whatever account she opens here.

Nationwide might still offer a passbook - ring and check?1

If it’s important find which banks are nearest and easy to get to from her house?FrankieM said:Hi

Is she going to want a cheque book ? A debit card ? Pay in cash ? Is she internet savvy? She will need DD as that's the way to pay Council Tax, Water, Gas, Electric, Phone
I suggest she picks one of the main banks on the high street.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Into which account will her pension be paid?0

@ OP
Is your mum already receiving her foreign pension? If so, which account is that currently paid into? (That might be what colsten was asking, but not clear to me)
What currency is the foreign pension paid in?0 -
I have just glanced at your previous posts. Your mother has come back from Australia to live with you?
Will she be receiving the pension in AUD or will it be in sterling?0 -
I suggest Nationwide FlexBasic or Nationwide FlexAccount (with no overdraft). You get everything you would need - debit card, branch access, online banking (if she wants to use it) and importantly, great customer service. Although you said it doesn't need to have direct debits, are you sure? DDs can be used to pay for gas, water, electric etc so it's easier to have an account that offers it rather than not.0
