I was once given a credit card because I was drunk at Edgbaston and signed up for due to pretty model chatting me up. Was I missold and am I due compensation?

    Of course I'm not.
PS I had the card for 10 years and didn't max it out
  • I went for one of these reviews about 20 years ago at Lloyds, I was earning less than £9k a year at the time. I agreed to a credit card if it had a limit of £100 so I could put fuel in my car and food on the table if got stuck. Credit card came with £1500 on it, I cut it up straight away as I knew it was asking for trouble - we were going through a really difficult few years at the time and it would have made matters far worse had I have used it.
For the OP I really do get where you are coming from, the banks weren't trying to help you manage your money better but sell you products, they'd only have needed to look at how often I was in my overdraft to see how disastrous a CC could be if I didn't think too much about it.
