Wonga Credit File

Hi,
I have searched but have been unable to find the relevant information if anyone can direct me to the right thread feel free to close this one.
Basically I had a loan with Wonga which as far as I knew was mis sold. I received a payment for this February 2020, after checking my credit report this morning I can see in July 2019 I defaulted with Wonga. I thought these loans would be wiped off your credit file? Anyway obviously their is no way to contact anyone at Wonga now, what is the best thing to do? This is the only negative thing on my report and I’d like it gone if it’s possible.
Thanks

What makes you believe it was mid-sold?0

From the Wonga FAQ:
If my claim is agreed, will you remove the loans from my credit file?
Yes, it is our intention to, albeit given the number of claims we have received, this may take a number of months after you have received your assessment.

The fact they paid me compensation with thousands of other people.0

I don’t understand.
If you applied for the loan off your own accord then that’s not “mis-selling”.
That was your own choice/decision.0 -
Ok, things have moved on, it was not mis-selling, it was unafordable lending, Wonga took a gamble, it didn`t work for them.If they have agreed to remove credit file information, which is the case if you have recieved compensation from them directly, or through the recent repayment scheme, and this has yet to be actioned, give it some time.If after another 3 months nothing has changed, then make a complaint to the ICO, they deal with all issues regarding credit file informaton.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
