Given my profession (teacher) I can’t let this get to court
It's not criminal court.  Of course you can, and will, and you will win.

Defending a court claim in the small claims track doesn't have to be declared, doesn't affect your DBS and doesn't affect people's credit rating.  No effect.  I used to work in a school myself till I retired last year, and on this forum we've also seen several teacher defendants happily win their cases.

Defend the claim of course; this is a matter of principle and a teacher can certainly do what is required.   If you honestly think teachers are some sort of profession that has to roll over and pay ANY court claim regardless of merit, what would you do if you were served with a claim by someone making it up?!  e.g. a deluded court-happy neighbour filing court cases against ten others in the hope someone pays, for example...surely you can see that people DO NOT just pay small claims, regardless of profession?

If the above was true, aggressive criminals could file claims to all the teachers they know, and collect money from them without a whimper.  Of course they can't.

This is not the same thing as criminal trials.

Britannia have had shedloads of claims struck out for adding a fake £60...are you near Southampton, Warwick, Luton or Skipton courts to name a few?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So odd, that Britannia carry on with a legal who is a disaster from day one ?
Who else could they use, the rest of the legals are as daft as a brush. Could of course mean they are chicken to do it themselves  ... that's probably it ???
