Best & Cheapest Place to Rent?

You mentioned Sheffield in an earlier post.
We recently moved out of Sheffield to Worksop where you get a lot more house for your money (both rental and purchase) and if you fancy a trip into Sheffield it is only 15-20 minutes on the train. It is also ideally located for the M1, M18 and A1.
There is also a host of places to visit right on the doorstep. We are really enjoying living here.0 -

2 motorway junctions, westcoast mainline, affordable rents and good schools, with access to the lake district.0 -

As someone who has lived all over the UK..from Middlesbrough, to Liverpool, to Birmingham, Derby, London, Worthing.I must say that Liverpool area is by far the nicest, friendliest and one of the most value for money areas to live in.A few people have mentioned it already, so if you can withstand the scouse accent, then go for it!365 Day 1p challenge - £371.49 / 667.95

Depends where tbh like everywhere. Not sure you would want to live in Bootle but then that's personal preferencebamgbost said:As someone who has lived all over the UK..from Middlesbrough, to Liverpool, to Birmingham, Derby, London, Worthing.I must say that Liverpool area is by far the nicest, friendliest and one of the most value for money areas to live in.A few people have mentioned it already, so if you can withstand the scouse accent, then go for it!"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Liverpool is cheap and lots of nice areas, make sure to check out the area thoroughly as some areas are a bit 'rough'. Have a good look at St Helens as well, cheap as chips and it has 3 well connected railway stations. I lived there for 5 years and really loved the rail connections, easy and quick to get to Liverpool one way and Manchester the other, also has a direct rail connection to Manchester Airport and well connected to motorways and the East Lancashire Road. Again, check out the areas thoroughly as a number of 'rough' areas in St Helens as well - although I suppose the same goes for most large metropolitan areas.

True, London is full of dodgy areas, but rents are super expensive, horses for courses I suppose.0
