Best & Cheapest Place to Rent?

Im biased because I live here but I love Liverpool.... we’re cheap, have good local and national railways, an airport, also cheap taxis. The best city centre with absolutely loads to do with the kids as they grow up. 3 universities. Several hospitals that are nowhere near as busy as the south.
Its quite cheap to live inner city and gets dearer as you move into suburbs but still very cheap compared to the south. I’d probably go more suburban for better schools but the transport links are still great. You're also close to the beach/ seaside, wales is a day trip away if you want countryside.
Ive lived on the south coast and the only thing I miss from there is the sunshine in summer but apart from that Id give Liverpool 10/10. Good luckMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Vast difference in prices - would have thought for the majority of jobs pay would be similar (of course with added London weighting for those in London). But with the average flat price running at 3 to 4 times, there must be other intangible factors at play.
Some 2-bed flats in Hull or Bradford near the train station appear to be renting for £450/month. Probably could get more discounts by paying more months up front - I'd guess with the uncertainty around now cashflow would be valued even more than ever.0 -
Yeah, offer them a year up front at 400 pm, some of the cash strapped/Airbnb types might go for it.numbercruncher8 said:Vast difference in prices - would have thought for the majority of jobs pay would be similar (of course with added London weighting for those in London). There’s a place between Bradford and Leeds called Apperley Bridge, has a train station, is close to Leeds/Bradford Airport, currently a hotspot for new development. There’s also Low Moor (more Bradford) and Morley (and surrounding train stations) for good links to Leeds

You've a broad range of choices. London's out and so's the southeast because there's not much good value. The south-west similar. I was gong to suggest the Bristol/newport/Cardiff area but you'd prefer England and Bristol's low value for money. The Southampton-Portsmouth area might still be in the frame.
The midlands would be great, has an airport. The Liverpool-Hull belt is great- airports and loads to do and some great value areas.
Central Scotland's got shedloads to do, has the airports and the scenery's on the doorstep of the cities but it's not England.
I reckon you've the choice of Southampton-Portsmouth area or Birmingham or the Northern belt. Any kith or kin to consider?

You could look at Nottingham and Coventry. Both have low prices and good connections.0

Lancaster is pretty much bob on for value for money. (i think it's voted one of the most affordable places in some survey)
2 motorway junctions, westcoast mainline, affordable rents and good schools, with access to the lake district.0 -
Would be like Dark Side of Pluto for someone from London though?Comms69 said:Lancaster is pretty much bob on for value for money. (i think it's voted one of the most affordable places in some survey)
