Etihad Airways Refund / Cancellation Thread

To discuss Etihad refunds/Vouchers/re booking etc.
I have a holiday booked with Etihad in June 2020, I do not want to travel, Etihad have offered to allowed a re booking until 30 of June with no extra charges, but I will not travel this year, my next option is a voucher for the value of my payment, valid for 12 months. It's £1820 on hold now! I wish to get my money back, Marriott hotels Abu Dhabi have offered to refund the payment for hotel bookings made if i decide not to travel.
I wish Etihad refunds my money and that of 1000's of others.

ABTA have backed the voucher scheme and the 12 months wait for your cash .

If you’re scheduled to fly with us before 31 July 2020, we’ll give you up to US $400 and up to 5,000 Etihad Guest Miles when you save your trip for later. Or, you can change the date of your flight for free or request a refund if you’re eligible.

UPDATE: Received this message from Etihad. (Note My ticket was bought from Etihad directly.)
We are currently offering our guests the following 2 rebooking options:

 1. You may re book your ticket to travel on or before 31 July 2020 with no change fee, no fare difference and you may re-route (within the same zone).
2. You may keep your tickets open. This would mean that you can reuse it at a later stage for a different trip, upgrades, ancillaries, or you can even purchase a ticket for someone else. The validity of your travel bank is one year. So this means that you will have one year to book your travel dates and the ticket will be valid for another year from the date of issue. We will also reward you with up to US $400 and up to 5,000 Etihad Guest Miles. You can apply for it here: http://etihad.com/travelalerts.

Again this is not a package holiday, but separate contracts with an airline and hotel. Browntoa's advice is therefore incorrect. It is good to see Etihad changing its policy and following, almost exactly, the policy of Emirates airline next door. However Emirates is saying it may take up to August to process every refund, so don't expect refunds tomorrow

If you have a booking with Etihad, the travel voucher is not what you think, once applied for you have no control over your own money. They apply the credit to a travel bank account held with them, you cannot view any details online and have no control over it, to use the credits you HAVE TO call UAE Global office to make bookings.

Can anyone help please?  Visiting UK from New Zealand, return flights cancelled by Etihad, and now visa will run out so cannot return to NZ.  Etihad have offered these vouchers, but I cannot use them.  Refusing refund, even though they cancelled the flights.  Any advice please?

Did you buy the ticket in NZ or UK?
Etihad refusing refund as it's not covered by EU law. Don't they allow to change date and free of charge?
