Looks like you're stuck I'm afraid.  That's the trouble with a lot of these smaller online travel agents.  They make very little money on selling tickets, the commission is tiny.  They bump up this income by charging admin fees for absolutely everything.  There is a cost to them of course to process your refund, they have to pay someone to answer their telephones/emails, they will have to get in touch with the airline to obtain the refund, then track when it's received so they can refund you etc.

Whether that amounts to £75 per ticket?  Unlikely.  But it is the T&Cs you agreed to when booking unfortunately.

    Hello everyone,

In December 2019 we booked flights from London to Punta Cana for April 2020 with a Travel Agent. The flight was cancelled by airline. Now the Travel Agent gave me 2 option, travel voucher or refund. But aggressively trying to push for voucher. I requested for refund. The airline is happy to issue full refund to TA.

When I booked tickets, I asked about cancellation fee and was told if I cancel booking for any reason there will be a cancellation fee of £75 per person. Now even I did not request for cancellation, the TA demanding £75 per person for refund. That £300 for family of 4. TA’s point is, the flight was cancelled that’s why the cancellation fee. My point is, the cancellation was not requested by me, so no justification for £300.

Any advice, suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OP Don't listen to those on here who are not affected and are just arm chair trolls, moral of the matter is NO ONE has to loose out. I have spoken to Piers Morgan to bring this matter on GMB so the Govt will make some remedy which they are ignoring!

How is pointing out the terms the OP agreed to being an "armchair troll"?

Oh and it is "lose", not "loose".

You have “spoken” to Piers Morgan. Really. Did he confirm what day he will raise on GMB?

So perhaps it could be argued that under the Package Travel Regulations 2018, that £75 per head is neither "Reasonable or Justifiable" rendering the term invalid ?
After all how easy is it when the facility exists to do it yourself ? - A couple of clicks and you are there online !!

If it was a flight only booking then it will not fall under the Package Travel Regs 2018.  That said, you could always try and claim its an unfair contract term anyway via the courts, but you'd have to weigh up whether it would be worth the time and effort, without the guarantee of success.

Perfect that's it all fixed now. Thanks to Samkma. Well done!!

Op once Piers brings up the matter on GMB with the relevant information that Samkma has spoken to him about, all will be well.

And the government will be forced to stop any actions they are taking at the moment, and concentrate on Travel  Agency terms and conditions.  o:)
