Flight cancelled by airlines, now Travel Agent demanding £75 per person to refund

            Hello everyone,
In December 2019 we booked flights from London to Punta Cana for April 2020 with a Travel Agent. The flight was cancelled by airline. Now the Travel Agent gave me 2 option, travel voucher or refund. But aggressively trying to push for voucher. I requested for refund. The airline is happy to issue full refund to TA.
When I booked tickets, I asked about cancellation fee and was told if I cancel booking for any reason there will be a cancellation fee of £75 per person. Now even I did not request for cancellation, the TA demanding £75 per person for refund. That £300 for family of 4. TA’s point is, the flight was cancelled that’s why the cancellation fee. My point is, the cancellation was not requested by me, so no justification for £300.
Any advice, suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If that's the terms of the agent then you might well be stuck I'm afraid. Who is the agent?0

What exactly do the terms say?0

you need to refer to the terms and conditions but I would expect from the third parties view they still need to do the work with the airline to obtain your refund to pass it to you and they don't work for free.fullmoon_2 said:My point is, the cancellation was not requested by me, so no justification for £300.
Third party fees can be avoided by booking directly with the airline

"Most customers do not read the agent's terms and conditions when they book which means many won't be aware that agents can, and tend to, charge a substantial admin fee for those who want a cash refund for their flights - sometimes up to £200 a ticket."

Indeed, you chose to use a third party, probably to save a tenner, and now you are seeing the downside.2

Sorry but read the terms and conditions next time? It appears you asked as above for refund?fullmoon_2 said:Hello everyone,

13.2.3 An administration fee of £75 per ticket will be levied on any non-refundable ticket where a tax refund application is made by us at your request and on your behalf. If the recoverable tax components for your ticket are less than the administration charge, the ticket will be deemed to be fully non-refundable. Refunds will not be paid to you until they have been received by us from the relevant airline or consolidator. In the case of airline ticket refunds, this is normally 10-12 weeks from the point the tickets are submitted for consideration to the airline.
