I don't expect/hanker to get many likes/thanks on this subject in here - I mean why would it (when posted on this part of the forum).

Maybe, just maybe food for thought for some though.....

    Stay safe.
If you ever travel to Normandy. Visit the Polish War Memorial on Hill 262. One of the most moving places I've visited. (Besides being of military importance in the Battle). When you hear stories of the Polish soldiers defending and fighting off the Germans with broken beer bottles as weapons. As they had run out of ammunition. You realise what a world of snowflakes there is today.........

I am more interested in who is giving thanks than the volume. It's nice when an OP gives thanks as it confirms they returned to see your reply and seems more likely you helped them in some way. Also with the regulars, seeing what views they align to helps better understand their perspectives, which is interesting even if it differs from your own. Sometimes I am surprised with the statements that regulars agree with and it makes you think a bit deeper.

On my mobile device I seem unable to see who has actually given thanks to any particular post
I originally thought that this had been removed so that it wasn't possible to see it.

But.... If you click on the three dots in the top right, then select Desktop Site, then rotate your device to landscape and then click to the right hand side of the thanks - the 'thankers' become apparent.

    Bit of a clat.

Lloyds Bank seem to be part of the problem.  They insist you phone them to close a credit card account

I closed mine by writing a letter and posting it

It's not just me then. I prefer closing accounts in writing than phoning a call centre. The cost of a stamp might be a little more, but it saves entering into a discussion about it or waiting to speak to someone.

I closed my RBS rewards account last month but kept the associated credit card live as I was expecting refunds on it post covid19. RBS have now charged me the £24 annual fee for it. I do not want the card nor do I use it, just require refunds back on it. I have tried for over three days to contact RBS via phone, botchat, app, but to no avail. I have finally sent them a letter requesting closure of the card. A letter!! In this day and age and current climate. RBS..... quite useless. Other banks I managed to contact without problems.

Or you could use the analogy of thousands dead in a global pandemic meaning that the world has changed incalculably for the time being.

People dealing with debts, no work and untold levels of stress trying to keep things on an even footing.

Key workers, including bank staff, putting themselves in harms way by staffing up branches and offices.

And meanwhile wealthy Gladis from Basingstoke is determined to get 14p extra a year in her savings so contacts and recontacts and recontacts said institution to find out progress. With no thought for where or how the staff members are having to work or how they are having to prioritize.

Just one of many examples on here.

As I say - my feeling is people on this part of the forum are less likely 'to get it'...... unfortunately.

And as I say...take care everyone.

    Snowflake or not.

If organisations left their interest rates alone, then people wouldn't feel the need to contact, recontact and recontact the organisations. Or if their products were fully able to be set up online without human intervention.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

The setting to Desktop didn't work for me, but I've found that on my mobile device if I keep my finger on the 'thanks' icon for a second then the list of 'thankers' shows - I then just have to click outside the 'right click' context menu that appears to get back to the post.

But there's no real need to close a CC account is there?  Pay off the balance and cut up the card - job done.
It helps your credit worthiness if you reduce the amount you [potentially] owe
I asked Sainsbury's Bank to cancel my credit card by secure message, no discussion, don't need it any more. They offered me 0% on purchases for 15 months. Accepted it. I haven't spent anything on a credit card for a month but I might be doing one day - hopefully! Similar scenario a couple of years ago with an AA credit card - phoned to cancel and was offered a 0%/0% balance transfer for a year.
