There may we’ll be a fraud investigation and prosecution, but I doubt that that’s likely. What’s more likely is that you need to pay back the money that you received, do you have enough available to do that?0 -
There is little to no chance of getting this CIFAS marker wiped. The only small and i mean very small chance of getting removed is by lying to Santander. That would just open another can of worms and put you in more trouble. I would take this as a lesson learnt, you are young so you have time on your side.
On the plus once its removed after 6 years there will be no record of this. You will still be able to open bank accounts, lloyds basic account, monzo, starling and even pre paid like cash plus etc. So plenty of alternatives out there. Student finance does not effect CIFAS so you will be safe. To be honest, CIFAS wont effect your everyday life (based on your age and your a student) so i wouldn't be concerned right now. You are not planning on getting a mortgage and you can still get a bank account so for you being young and a student you will be fine.0 -

Student finance doesn't check CIFAS but the problem is it is a requirement (no exceptions!) for student loan to go into a bank account in OP's name. Unless they want to go to university with no maintenance loan! How will they get an account with a CIFAS marker? You cannot get a bank account with a category 6 CIFAS marker.0 -
Plenty of ways to get a bank account with a CIFAS marker. Alot of basic accounts cant be offered with a CIFAS marker. Lloyds i know from experience do. Monzo and Starling also. Plus you can get any pre paid bank account such as cash plus who do not do credit checks. This is not really a big issue.0
